Sometimes the smallest projects are the most satisfying. The owners of this house had lived for many years with what could be called a kitchen in only the loosest sense of that word. It was truly just a room with a sink, a range, and a refrigerator. Storage and counter space were nonexistent.

Working within the confines of the existing space, a few simple moves create an entirely different cooking experience. The sink is centered below a window to allow views out and natural light in. The range is cornered to eliminate the deep corner cabinet that so often becomes an appliance graveyard. Custom cabinets provide a floor to ceiling pantry near the refrigerator, and an overhead shelf for cookbooks.
