The clients wanted a fresh face for a wonderful old house. Specifically, they were looking for an open, more welcoming front porch.
The heavy stucco walls of the original porch are replaced with open balusters above the new deck, and a custom designed lattice below. A deeper hip roof replaces the thin shed roof of the old porch, and better harmonizes with the roof of the house. Large column bases visually anchor the porch to the ground and echo the house’s heavy stone base. A fresh coat of paint provides the finishing touch.
