Evanston, Illinois
This one-and-a-half story home only utilized one-and-a-quarter stories, with two bedrooms and a full bath in the back portion of the second story, and a large, unfinished storage area in the front portion.
The addition of two dormers in the unfinished space creates room for a master bedroom and a second, full, en suite bathroom. Nearly as much to the client’s delight as the additional living space: the cathedral ceilings of the new dormers and the existing attic meet to form a “star.” Lights concealed in the stained wood collar ties are directed toward the ceiling to create a wonderful ambient glow.
